It's a shame - we're missing your work. Well, WOLK is coming and Star Trek Online has had its debut trailer. Maybe that's enough to see you return?

I really really struggled with LoTRO... I liked its direction but it failed to grab me and convince me that it was worth my time. It felt unpolished in many respects, lacking the sheen and presentation of WOW. Is it unfair to compare everything to WOW? I find with every MMORPG that comes along it's inevitable to do so.

You've got company in the blogging/gaming doldrums. Work has been busy which has eaten up free time for gaming, but even when some time finally appeared, nothing reached out and grabbed me.

I've got a mid teens character on the live beta server that I'd like to get out of the jail that is Tortage, but not so sure I've got it in me. My last session lasted a couple of hours before I got the same feeling you did-- "Ok, I'm done. I can't look at another loading screen."

Its vague curiousity that's driving me, but definitely not that "must play" feeling. meh.

I definitely agree, there are many, myself included that never got to experience the high end content pre-bc. And I for one would love the opportunity to visit some of these. Why not offer heroic levels to these as well?

Didn't realize this article was from over a year ago. Hopefully, the proliferation of dailies in WoW has made this "mount for a mount" thing a fad of yesteryear. Gives a whole new meaning to "pimp my ride."

My wife and I met playing EQ, and we're honestly a very good match. You'd be surprised how things can develop. In our case, I played regularly with her best friend and one day she offered to "introduce" us. Long story short, we've been together for almost 7 years and married for almost 4.

As for the virtual harlot you mentioned above; you may have missed it but check the date on that story. Reportedly, both parties delivered. There is no shortage of depravity in the virtual or the non-virtual world(s).

As far as virtual brothels are concerned, I believe that those were in Star Wars Galaxies as early as late 2003.

It's getting harder and harder to shock me. :P

Nice :) I thought I'd commented here but I didn't. I'm hoping that Lich King will do what Burning Crusade did, but I have this feeling that not too much is going to change. And if it doesn't, that could be the end of WOW for me - for good.

Absolutely. Our little instance group is plodding along in the mid 60s right now and I'm hoping we don't end up plateaued at 70 too long before Lich King hits.

Pre-TBC, life at the level cap for a non-raider was purgatory. Those rep grinds are completely unfun and the close we get to 70 with this new group, the more I see it rear its ugly head again.

Unfortunately, I think Blizzard is a victim of their own success and their commitment to polishing a game-- the development cycle is so long that they've cynically resorted to kill 20 instead of kill 10 rats and rep grinds to extend the content.

I think they can't keep up while at the same time are cynically taxing the playerbase.
